What to Pack for Baby’s First Trip Outside the House

That first trip outside the house with your baby—whether it’s a short walk, a doctor’s visit, or meeting loved ones—is a big moment. You’ll want to feel prepared without lugging around the entire nursery.

Here’s what to pop into your changing bag before you head out:

1. Nappies (at Least 3)

Always pack a few extra in case you’re delayed or baby has a blowout.

2.Wipes & Changing Mat

A travel-sized pack of wipes and a foldable mat are lifesavers for on-the-go changes.

3.Two Outfit Changes

Babies are unpredictable—spit-up and leaks happen. Bring two clean babygrows or vests and a spare hat.

4.Feeding Supplies

If you’re bottle-feeding, pack sterilised bottles and formula. If you’re breastfeeding, consider bringing breast pads and a muslin cloth for comfort.

5.Blanket or Muslin Swaddle

A lightweight blanket is handy for keeping baby warm or shielding them from wind or sun.

6.Soothing Toy or Dummy (Optional)

Some babies are comforted by a small toy, teether, or dummy while out.
