How to Get Your Partner Involved in Hospital Bag Prep

It’s easy for mums to take on all the prep but getting your partner involved in hospital bag planning not only lightens your load, it also helps them feel part of the journey.

Here’s how to make packing the hospital bag a shared (and more stress-free) experience:

1. Go Through the Checklist Together

Sit down and go through what you’ll need for hospital. Pick one checklist and stick to it, it can be very confusing if you're working off more than one! Don’t forget to include things for your partner too, like snacks, chargers, a change of clothes, deodorant.

2. Give Them Ownership of Their Section

Let them be in charge of their part of the bag (and maybe even baby’s going-home outfit!). It helps them feel useful and confident on the day.

3. Talk Through the Bag

Run through what’s in each bag, section and pocket so they’ll know where to find everything when you’re focused on labour or your newborn. Our packing pods (back in stock in October) are a great way of organising your bag AND making it super easy for your partner to find items!

4. Shop for It Together

Lighten the load by bringing your partner with you for the items you need to purchase. Or choose a pre-packed hospital bag or contents package from Ulluv to save time.

5. Pack It Early

Start by 32–34 weeks so it’s one less thing to worry about. Your partner will appreciate the peace of mind too and know where to grab the bags from when the time comes!
