How to Create a Memory Box From Your Hospital Experience

Those first days in hospital after your baby’s birth go by in such a blur — and yet, they are filled with moments you’ll want to remember forever.

One of the most beautiful ways to honour this time is by creating a memory box. Here’s how to get started:

1. Choose a special box
Pick something sturdy and beautiful — a keepsake box, a pretty tin, or even a drawer lined with tissue paper.

2. Gather those little treasures
Here are some meaningful items you might include:

  • Baby's hospital ID bracelet

  • Baby’s first hat

  • A copy of their hospital cot card

  • First outfit or mittens

  • NICU milestone cards (if your baby spent time in NICU)

  • A copy of your birth announcement card

  • Photos from those early days

  • The chocolate wrapper from that first post-birth treat!

3. Add written memories
Pop in a little notebook or card with your reflections — what you felt, funny moments, first cuddles, visitors. Trust us: those little details are golden to look back on.

4. Include any cards or messages
Pop in cards from family and friends, especially from those who met baby in those first days.

Your hospital experience is the start of your story together — capturing those early memories in a box can be something you (and your child) treasure forever.
