In setting up a small business, it was always my genuine wish to "give something back" by supporting a charity. Given the nature of my product, I felt that it would be nice to support our childrens' charities. Therefore, a donation (5% of profits) from each purchase made throughwww.hospitalbag.ie will go to a nominated children's charity.
The way it works is that the nominated children's charity will rotate every 6 months. The charity is chosen by my FB followers who simply vote for their charity of choice over a defined time period, and the charity with the most votes wins.
The voting for the first nominated charity closed at midnight on Thursday 4th May and I am delighted to announce that the charity with the most votes (by a continental mile!!!) was Touching Hearts in Waterford.
Dermot Dooley, co-founder of the charity, explains: "Touching Hearts is a charity established to build a purpose built facility for children with additional needs from 0-6 years of age, as the current building on Lady Lane Waterford is too small and is no longer fit for purpose."
Well done to Dermot and all those involved in Touching Hearts, as well as those who voted for it. And thank you to all my customers and potential customers who, in purchasing from hospitalbag.ie, are supporting a very worthy charity 😊!
