    I am a COMPLETE anorak where it comes to statistics so really found this exercise interesting! I looked at the top 10 baby names for boys (girls will follow shortly!) for 4 different years - 2001, 2006, 2011 and 2016. Here they are:

    1 Jack Sean Jack James
    2 Sean Jack James Jack
    3 Adam Conor Sean Daniel
    4 Conor Adam Daniel Conor
    5 James James Conor Sean
    6 Cian Daniel Ryan Noah
    7 David Luke Adam Adam
    8 Dylan Cian Harry Oisin
    9 Luke Michael Michael Michael
    10 Michael Jamie Alex Luke

     

    A few interesting observations:

    • 6 names (Jack, Sean, Adam, Conor, James and Michael) have been in the top 10 for all of the 4 years
    • David, Dylan and Cian seem to have reduced slightly in popularity more recently 
    • Daniel was not in top 10 in 2001 but has been there for the other 3 years
    • Ryan, Harry & Alex entered top 10 in 2011 but didn't feature last year
    • Noah and Oisin have become popular more recently, featuring the top 10 in 2016 but not in the other 3 years which I looked at. 

    And just in case you're interested, the 5 LEAST popular names for each of the years were as follows:

    2001: Calum, Bobby, Sebastian, Daithi, Patryk 

    2006: Filip, Glen, Kacper, Szymon, Jayden

    2011: Glen, Ian, Neil, Emmanuel, Keith

    2016: Zach, Jason, Sebastian, Dara, Isaac
